Under the 2010 Affordable Care Act/IRS Section 501(r), individuals may be eligible to receive free or deeply discounted care at a nearby non-profit hospital when a doctor prescribes medically necessary care.
Who may qualify?
Over 100 million individuals may qualify. Generally, individuals with household incomes between $20,000 and $99,000 will likely qualify for some level of financial assistance.
What does Medical Financial Assitance (Hospital Bill Eraser) (HBE) do?
Advocates help members apply for financial assistance prior to receiving medically necessary care, or up to as many as 240 days after they’ve received care.
